The Dwarf Tank

24 06 2008

Well, the tank seems to be coming along really nice. The two males have now been named. Zoolander and Hansel. Just cus Zoolander is such a poser, and Hansel is his competition.  I have not yet found a name for the female yet…..she has not shown me anything super unique…but time will change that.

Added some ghost shrimp with eggs in them yesterday. Hopefully will have some baby ghost shrimp running around so I can feed them to the GSP’s. Hopefully the dwarfs don’t eat them first.

Visitor

24 06 2008

Hi guys, its Elevator again. Been quite an interesting day. Woke up kinda late, had some worms, then went exploring a little. Nothing different in the morning. Then the water level started falling. Don’t know why. But it felt really fresh when everything got back to the right level. Later this evening, the giant green thing came into the tank and started taking out the tetras. I wonder where they went…..

But, great news! We have a visitor. Blinky, a Green Spotted Puffer like me has come to stay for a little while. He tells me he was being bullied at home by a Takifugu named Sushi. Blinky says Sushi is a nice fish, just got in with the wrong crowd when he was younger, but he had to be saved, because he was getting scared. So Halo and I are showing him around here for now, making him feel at home. He has promised to show us how to hunt ghost shrimp….they are sooo fast! He says its pretty easy once you get the hang of it first.

I’ll try and sneak out the tank again and give you more updates when the boss is out. Till next time! Elevator going down!

Pictures of the Tanks

23 06 2008

Well, finally got to get some photos of some of my fish. Trying to get macros of them in the tank is hard work. Took about 150 shots in half an hour, and still don’t have everything I want, but here are some of the shots….Not had a chance to edit them, except resizing, eventually I will.

Here is the 10G tank

Some Inhabitants..

And my 20G

AND Introducing Elevator. Halo was a little shy, but I’ll get him soon enough.

Thats it for now…more will come soon enough….

Shhhh, the boss is out

22 06 2008

Hi guys! This is Elevator. I snuck out the tank for to use his computer…..Halo is looking out on the tank watching me tap dance on this keyboard.  I don’t have much time…I heard something about 7-11. That normally means no more than 7 minutes.

Well, the boss came home with some new rocks to make a bunch of caverns to play in. I found them fairly interesting for a while, but I kind of like looking at myself go up and down on the side of the tank.  Halo, on the other hand, has kind of an Indiana Jones thing going on…..I swear, give him a fedora hat and a whip and he would be out there saving some hot porcupine puffer from a shark.  Needless to say, he loves it.

Pinchy is being a donkey.  Keeps munching on our worms. AND snails.  But, I am still full, so I am not complaining.  At least he does not touch our krill and shrimp.

Took a peek over at our neighbor tank with the teeny puffers in em. They look happy. Gotta say hey sometim…….oh no, the boss is coming back…I hear the key turning. Till next time guys! Elevator going down!

Names

22 06 2008

Well, I have finally done it, names for the GSP’s. I had some friends over for dinner tonight, and showed them the little guys. They loved them.  One of the GSP’s has a brighter green spot on his head, and for some strange reason, the name Halo came to mind. And it stuck. My friend noticed that the other one (that has more leopard like spots on him…almost getting him named Leopold…dorky) keeps on going up and down on the side of the tank. Ok, a small sign of stress, and boredom, but he does it more than Halo, so he is now named Elevator. The blue lobster is now named Pinchy, after the Simpsons lobster…..

The Dwarf puffers have yet to be named yet. I am starting to be able to tell them apart now. Soon, they will have their names though

New Puffer Home

20 06 2008

Well, with 2 tanks in less than 2 months, I am off to a quick start to the world of puffers. A 10g tanks with 3 Dwarf Puffers, and 2 ghost shrimp. And a 20G tank with two Green Spotted Puffers, a blue lobster, 7 neon tetras, and 5 glow tetras. Everyone is still new, and they don’t have names yet…though I do have some in mind….maybe.

So I guess this is going to be the home of where I tell no one in particular what I am doing with the tanks, and once in a while, I might let the puffers have their own say. Enjoy
